A young Nigerian Lady named Oluwadamilola Rodiat Ayankunbi has made her uneducated mother proud after earning an academic degree from a polytechnic in Nigeria, West Africa.

Oluwadimola’s mother sells food in a market to raise funds to sponsor her education and despite their poor background, she was able to graduate successfully with the help of her mother.

Celebrating her achievement, Oludamilola Rodiat shared a proud moment with her mother who sells bean cake (locally called akara). In the video shared, her mother was seen writing “Iya Alakara” on her daughter’s white cloth.

Oluwadamilola Rodiat earned a National Diploma in Mass Communication. She narrated that since she was a kid, she had always wanted to work hard to put smile on her family’s face. “Growing up to face d reality of life n knowing I wasn’t born wit a sliver spoon, I doubled my hustle n make handwork my watchword,” she said on Instagram.

“I worked so hard to put smile on my family n to be a better person……have been mocked n ridiculed bcos of d type of hustle I choose but it doesn’t stop me from being who I am….I worked so hard so my children won’t go through d stress I went through,” she added.

In another story, a determined young woman named Priscilla Akwagu emerged as one of the best graduating students of the University of Education Winneba, Ghana in 2021 after hawking food across the streets to generate money to fund her education.

Priscilla Akwagu who graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in education made it a priority in her life to be educated regardless of her present status. “Being able to strike between slaying and hustling when necessary makes you stand out,” she wrote on Facebook.

Sharing her story on social media, a man named Adom Ara Kwa narrated that they had the chance to put a smile on her face for achieving such an exceptional feat.
