An exceptional Nigerian Lady named Paula-Peace James-Okoro has won the prestigious Gates Cambridge Scholarship to earn a PhD in Clinical Biochemistry after earning an outstanding first-class degree in Nigeria.

Paula-Peace earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Covenant University, Nigeria as the best graduating student with a 4.98 grade point out of a possible 5.00 grade point.

After her Bachelor’s degree, Paula-Peace proceeded to apply for the Gates Cambridge Scholarship, a scholarship awarded to outstanding applicants from countries outside the UK to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree in any subject available at the University of Cambridge.

Paula-Peace celebrated her achievement on LinkedIn. She said: “It fills me with so much joy to announce that I have recently begun my fully funded PhD program in Clinical Biochemistry at the University of Cambridge. I was awarded the prestigious Gates Cambridge scholarship (surreal!) and a Doctoral Training Programme in Medical Research (DTP-MR).”

She noted that her journey to become a scholar has not been an easy one. “There were moments when it felt like it was impossible to get here – uncertainties, sleepless nights, and emotions. Eventually, all of the hard work paid off even better than I could have imagined,” she explained.

She thanked God and everyone who supported her throughout her journey. “I am immensely grateful to God who has been incredibly gracious to me and without whom I would not be here today. Indeed, there is no limitation to that which God can do,” she said.
