Richard Eyimofe Evans Mofe-Damijo, professionally known as RMD, was born on July 6, 1961 in Lagos, Nigeria. He is an award-winning Nigerian actor, lawyer, writer, producer, and former journalist. In the 2005 Africa Movie Academy Awards, he was named Best Actor in a Leading Role.

Richard Mofe-Damijo Early Life and Education
RMD grew up in the Delta State town of Warri and completed his primary school education there, where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. He then attended Midwest College in Warri for his secondary school education after graduating from Anglican Grammar School in Warri with his West African Senior School Certificate. During his secondary school years, he was active in drama and performing arts, and he was a member of his school’s Drama Club.
RMD then went on to the University of Benin in Edo State, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts. After receiving his first degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Benin in 1997, he went on to study Law at the University of Lagos, graduating in 2004 with a Master’s Degree in Law and being admitted to the Nigerian bar in 2005.

In his early 30s he published Nigeria’s first all-gloss magazine for men, ‘Mister’ which he sold for several millions at 33 years old. He later quit the media job and joined the Nigerian movie industry (Nollywood) and acted in his first television soap opera “Ripples”. The film became a very popular and skyrocket him to fame.
In 2008, RMD was called to serve in government in his home state, Delta State, first as a Special Adviser to The Governor and subsequently as The Honorable Commissioner of Culture and Tourism.
